(3 units)
To familiarize the student with relationships
among the physical, social and psychological
aspects of health, which include: self-care,
prevention and analysis of personal health
problems through participation in self-assessment
techniques. Topics include the relationship
of lifestyles to nutrition, stress, physical
fitness, death and dying, and mental illness.

Exploration of the ways in which history
and historians provide perspective and
background analysis of current issues.
Focus on case studies, such as: the civil
rights movement; the family in history;
cycles of economic depression; colonial
independence movements; origins of modern

and behavior of the peoples of the United
States. Meets the California state requirement

present. Emphasis upon ideas, movements,
individuals and institutions that have

An understanding of personal development
and issues related to college education
and success. This course will focus on
developing the whole student as he prepares
to enter the world of college education.
Topics will include: self-knowledge and

thinking skills, broadening academic perspectives
and working with cultural diversity.
